Explore UT SealVisit the School of Nursing Explore UT activities in the School of Nursing building! Nursing will have 5 different events to demonstrate how nurses care for the citizens of Texas. We look forward to meeting you on Saturday, March 3, 2007 from 11 to 5 p.m.

Parking: Various lots and buildings around campus are available for visitors. Volunteers staffing the nursing activities will have special parking instructions. In addition, shuttle busses will circle the campus and stop conveniently near the School of Nursing. Please visit Explore UT: Parking for more information.

Explore Nursing Events

All events are in the lobby of the School of Nursing.

  • Event Name: Healthy Living
    Adults Screening procedures such as blood pressure, body mass index and other vital signs will be available. Discuss questions about health maintenance and disease prevention with an advanced nurse practitioner. Learn how to prepare for a hospital experience.
  • Event Name: Learning Health Habits
    Kids Take part in interactive play opportunities to introduce kids to exam/hospital events using stethoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, B/P cuffs and masks. Assessment data will be available if parents desire. Diet and immunization information will also be available.
  • Event name: Is Your Family Ready for an Emergency?
    Learn how you and your family can prepare for natural or civil emergencies. Faculty and students will demonstrate care of simulated wounds. Information and resources for such events.
  • Event name: Sorry Honey, I Never Knew!
    Participants will be able to "try on" pregnancy by putting on the Empathy Belly. This vest simulates the weight and balance challenges a woman who is nine months pregnant experiences.
  • Event Name: Who is Your Nurse and What Does He or She Do?
    Tour the School of Nursing where and how nurses are trained. See where they practice their skills and learn how they improve the care you receive in clinics, hospitals and nurse practitioners’ offices. Prospective students can meet with advisors.

Volunteer Information

Interested in sharing information about Nurses and the nursing profession? Join with us in doing just that!

We need faculty and nursing students to help us staff the various activities. We need all levels of nursing skills from faculty to prenursing students--there is a job for you.

All volunteers will get a special Explore UT t-shirt to wear at the event. Food will be provided for volunteers. Free parking will be available in parking lots adjacent to the School of Nursing. In addition, there will be a free shuttle that takes a special route around the campus and to surface parking east of I35. Volunteers, faculty and students, will be admitted to the lots north and south of the building. Simply show your UT ID with the ‘nursing’ sticker to the guard.
