Students Helping in Nursing Education (SHINE)
SHINE is a volunteer program for pre-nursing students designed to facilitate greater faculty/student interaction. Participating is a good way for students to meet faculty, and it is a good way for faculty to get some much needed assistance. A SHINE student volunteer agrees to work one to two hours per week for an assigned faculty member for at least one semester. Tasks vary but may range from filing and organizing materials to doing literature searches and data coding.
Applications and detailed guidelines for SHINE are available during the first week of classes during each long semester. Once students have been assigned each semester, the faculty and student should complete and sign the *SHINE Agreement Form (PDF Format). For more information, please see *SHINE Faculty/Staff Guidelines (PDF - To view PDF file, download Adobe Reader).
