Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I get a tutor?

A. Free academic tutoring is available to undergraduate nursing majors during fall and spring semesters. Contact the Learning Enhancement Services for an appointment to sign up for tutoring services and to discuss your reasons for seeking help. Tutor referrals will be made at that time. For further information on tutoring see Peer Tutoring.

Q. I would like to talk to someone about some good study habits to help me learn how to study efficiently rather than just reviewing my notes. Who can help me?

A. Each semester, Learning Enhancement Services offers a series of free study skills workshops on goal setting, time management, principles of memory, reading, taking notes, test preparation, and multiple-choice strategies.  Several other topics are offered in addition to these. Individual sessions are available by appointment throughout the semester. For a list of sessions, times and dates, check the Workshops Schedules.

Q. Do you provide assistance with APA formatting?

A.  APA group tutorials are offered during the semester and by appointment throughout the semester. In addition, for APA related information, go to Writing Assistance.

Q.  I have several research papers due this semester. Can I get help with my writing?

A. Sessions on general writing processes are offered as part of the series of free study skills workshops throughout the semester for undergraduate and graduate nursing students. For specific individual concerns on writing, an appointment is necessary. Writing assistance may include the stages of writing, organizing ideas, clarifying thoughts, and general APA format guidelines.  However, we do not edit or proofread students’ papers.
