Academic Peer Tutors
Paid Position
The School of Nursing Academic Peer Tutoring program provides individual and/or group tutoring for most undergraduate prerequisite science and nursing courses and for certain upper division and graduate courses. Tutoring is available to currently enrolled Pre-Nursing/Nursing majors. The position is part-time with flexible hours. Tutors may be undergraduate or graduate nursing students. Tutors are paid by the School of Nursing on an hourly basis.
Applicant must:
- Be currently enrolled at UT with at least one semester completed as a UT student.
- Be a Pre-Nursing/Nursing major.
- Have an overall UT GPA of at least 3.33.
- Have taken the courses you want to tutor and earned a grade of B+ or higher in the course.
- Have good communication skills.
- Be willing to tutor at least 5 hours a week (although you are not guaranteed 5 hours/week).
- Be able to participate in required training sessions prior to beginning work as a tutor.
- Be willing to occasionally serve on committees or help with special projects and administrative tasks.
- Provide one reference from a person (preferably a faculty member, instructor, or teaching assistant) who can comment on your academic and/or interpersonal skills with regard to this position. A Reference Form is provided for this purpose.
