The School of Nursing supports the Susan G. Komen Foundation
Posted: Nov. 14, 2009
The School of Nursing joined 21,000 people on Sunday November 2, 2008, in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure. The event raised over $1.5 million dollars and seventy-five percent of the proceeds from the race remain in Travis and surrounding counties for screening, treatment, programs and education. The Komen Foundation has been a tremendous supporter of the School of Nursing’s Family Wellness Center Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Project. Funds provide free breast screening to women that are 40-49 with limited or no access to breast cancer screening. The University of Texas School of Nursing is proud to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation and is thankful for their continued support of the Family Wellness Center Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Project.
