On May 30, a group of volunteers enjoyed a day of sun, sport and charity as they hosted the Third Annual Young Texans Society Charity Golf Tournament to benefit The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. The Young Texans Society is a group of more than 600 UT Club members who joined together to create social, professional and community enrichment opportunities. Through their golf tournament, they raised $7,000 to support the Children’s Wellness Center this year.

The Children’s Wellness Center, a school-based, nurse-managed health clinic, provides acute care, preventative care, immunizations, outreach, and interventions for children and their families in the 174-square-mile Del Valle Independent School District while also serving as a training site for nursing students. The Children’s Wellness Center’s vision is to ensure that no child living in the Del Valle area lacks access to medical care, that families are treated with courtesy and respect, that cultural diversity is honored, and that future nurses are taught these values as they train with the clinic staff.

The School of Nursing is truly honored to be the beneficiary of the Young Texans Society’s generosity and efforts for the second year. A huge thank you goes out to the organization and the committee for their kindness and support.
