Two University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing students were elected to positions on the Texas Nursing Students’Association, Inc. (TNSA) officer board during its recent annual convention.
Harvey Bowers was elected to the position of southern regional director, and Julie Matthews was elected editor.
This past year, Matthews served as secretary of UTNSA. She will graduate in May 2010.
Eighteen university nursing students attended the state-wide meeting, which was held in Houston.
“I am so excited for Harvey and Julie,” said UTNSA President Lauren Bradshaw. “Being elected to the Texas Nursing Students Association (TNSA) Board of Directors is a great leadership opportunity, and I know that they will represent the School of Nursing wonderfully.”
The TNSA is a student nursing association dedicated to promoting professionalism and leadership for today’s students. It represents more than 3,000 student nurses from across the state preparing for initial licensure as registered nurses.
