Key Nursing Journals List. Update. 2007 (PDF Format)

This PDF document contains two key nursing journal listings: "Summary of Nursing Journal ISI Impact Factors"- 47 journals listed (includes the 2007 cites, impact factor, immediacy index, 2007 articles, cited half-life) and the "Allen (CINAHL) Journal Ratings" - over 200 journsls (% research articles, where indexed, peer-reviewed or not, cites).

Nursing Consult

Provides full text journal, book, and evidence-based monograph information on drug therapy and disease management.  Has current news, clinical practice, evidence-based content and care planning tools.  Also has patient education information and guidelines which can be individualized.

Clin-eguide

Clin-eguide is a new library database that provides a point-of-care clinical decision support system: drug therapy, disease management, lab test info, nursing considerations for over 2000 diseases.   Find it under Databases ( on the light purple row): Drug/Diagnostic/Lab Test.

Encyclopedia of Stress

This encyclopedia is available for searching through the Gale Virtual Reference Library. Once you are in the Gale Reference Library, click on Advanced Search.  In order to search just in the Encyclopedia use the "by publication title" box and click "Browse Publication Title".

 

MicroMedex

Micromedex provides access to healthcare databases which provide information about drugs, diseases, patient education, drug interactions, lab tests, toxic substances and other health information. The databases include DRUGDEX, USP DI Advice for the Patient, Alternative Medicine, DISEASEDEX, Lab Advisor, PDR, MSDS from USP, POISINDEX, REPRORISK, DISEASEDEX. Some of the information can be downloaded onto a PDA.

GeroNurseOnline

GeroNurseOnline is the "go to" web site for authoritative information about nursing care of older adults. It was developed through the Nurse Competence in Aging initiative and is the official geriatric nursing website of the American Nurses Association. It has geriatric protocols, links to specialty nursing associations' offerings in geriatric care, the "Try This Assessment Tools series, opportunities for CE and an online course to prepare for ANCC gerontological certification.

HospitalWise Comparison

HospitalWise Professional allows you to receive an independent comparison of hospitals by procedure or diagnosis within a specific area.

Measures used to compare these hospitals are: the number of patients treated at each hospital (patients/yr), the percentage of patients who died (mortality), the percentage of patients who developed problems (complications), the average number of days people stay in each hospital (length-of-stay), and each hospital's average charges (costs).

Stat!Ref Electronic Medical Library

Stat!Ref is a full text online database to many nursing and medical books.  The books can be searched individually, all together or in subject groups.  Some of the titles include A Nurse’s Guide to Cancer Care, Brunner and Suddarth’s Textbook of Medical Surgical Nursing, Davis’s Drug Guide for Nurses, Delmar’s Guide to Laboratory and Diagnostic Tests, Diseases and Disorders: A Nursing Therapeutics Manual, Nursing Diagnoses in Psychiatric Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Olds Maternity Nursing and many other titles. Publish Ahead of Print Journals

Ovid is now making available, journal articles that are not yet released in the print version. To access these journals

  1. Go to UT Library Online.
  2. Type in the name of the journal and then click on it.
  3. Click on the Journals@Ovid link
  4. Look at the top of the Table of Contents list and click "table of contents" for the first link. There will either be a date or it will say :"Publish Ahead of Print"
