21st NAGPS National Conference, November 15 -18, 2007
The University of Texas Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) will hose the 21st
Annual Conference of the National Association of Graduate and Professional
Students (NAGPS) in Austin, Texas, November 15
-18, 2007. This
conference brings together the brightest and best graduate students
from different corners of the United States. The theme of this year’s
conference is Advocate,
Empower and Connect - Creating Stronger Graduate and Professional Student
Communities.

the conference are:
- Ten
workshop sessions covering organizational, personal and professional
development for graduate students.
- A
workshop on effective mentoring as it pertains to graduate students as
mentors and mentees. This brings together a panel of seasoned mentors
from the university community in an interactive workshop session with
conference participants.
- Keynote
addresses from renowned speakers on higher education from across the
nation such as Dr. Raymund Paredes, Texas Commissioner of Higher Education
and Scott Jaschik, Co-founder and Editor of Inside Higher
Ed.
- Spend
a whole day at the Texas State Capitol discussing legislative issues
concerning graduate students.
- At the end of each evening, fun and relaxing social events are planned, including square dancing, Austin night life, and a boat cruise.
Attendance at all the workshop sessions is free for all UT graduate students. However, all the meals and social events will be charged individually, and UT students will need to register to be eligible for meals as well as to attend the social events.
