Before You Apply

Making the decision to attend graduate school is a big undertaking. And, once you have decided to pursue a graduate degree, you want to find the right program and university for you.

Step 1 If you are looking for additional information to help you make your decision to apply to graduate school at The University of Texas at Austin, visit "Prospective Students".

Step 2 Visit the web site of the program(s) in which you are interested to learn more about their faculty, requirements, deadlines, opportunities and program of work.

Step 3 Determine the Tuition, Fees and Other Costs of attending graduate school. When viewing that page select the Texas Residency Requirements link to determine your residency status.

Step 4 Contact the graduate coordinator by email or phone to ask questions and learn about opportunities to visit UT Austin or connect with faculty.

Step 5 Make sure you understand the application process and required documents, have taken Graduate Entrance Exams and are ready to complete the online application. We have prepared a checklist (pdf) to help you gather the information you need to complete the online application.

Note: Once you have submitted your application, you will receive important emails from the Graduate and International Admissions Center. To ensure the delivery of these emails, we strongly encourage you to add the following senders to your "safe" or "approved" senders list before you submit your ApplyTexas application.
