Outstanding Graduate Adviser
The Graduate School is pleased to announce that Dr. Kenneth Matwiczak of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs has been named the 2007 Outstanding Graduate Adviser. Graduate Adviser since 2002, Dr. Matwiczak has demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism and innovation in his work, substantially exceeding expectations of the appointment and greatly enhancing the experience of LBJ School students.
In his role as graduate adviser, Dr. Matwiczak works with students from recruiting and orientation to academic advising to assisting with career plans. Recognizing the need for students to enhance their writing and professional skills, Dr. Matwiczak was a major driver of the creation of the LBJ Writing Center and organizes weekly professional development workshops. "More than anything else, Dr. Matwiczak's hard work is reflected in the respect and appreciation he receives from our students. Without exception, students know that if they have a question or problem, "Dr. Mat" is the best resource for them," says one LBJ School administrator.
The 2007 Outstanding Graduate Adviser Award was presented to Dr. Matwiczak at the annual Graduate School/University Co-op awards banquet in May 2007.
