Outstanding Graduate Adviser
TSE-MIN LIN, Associate Professor of Government, has served as Graduate Adviser since 1999. Dr. Lin is responsible for the academic endeavors of over 100 master's and doctoral students in the Department of Government, and is described by both students and colleagues as being exceptionally and genuinely committed to the many aspects of the graduate program. Many of his students have commented on his personal concern for their well-being, his support of student initiatives, and his successful efforts to improve the quality of graduate education and foster professional development, while his colleagues have noted that under his leadership, faculty involvement in admissions, financial aid, comprehensive exams, and advising/mentoring has been invigorated. Dr. Lin is also credited with numerous improvements and initiatives related to recruitment of top applicants, appointment of teaching assistants, professional socialization of students, and job placement. He is a dedicated adviser, mentor, teacher, researcher, and administrator who is greatly appreciated by students and colleagues in his graduate program.
