Outstanding Dissertation Award
BRONWEN L. WICKKISER - Classics. Dr. Wickkiser's dissertation, The Appeal of Asklepios and the Politics of Healing in the Greco-Roman World, analyzes the rise of the cult of Asklepios, the Greek healing god, in the fifth century B.C. Her work contributes to our understanding of ancient Greek medicine and the interaction between ancient religion and philosophy/science. Dr. Wickkiser has recently accepted a teaching position at Gustavus Adolphus College and is currently revising her dissertation for publication as a book. Dissertation supervisor: Lesley A.
