LUCINDA MARTIN - Germanic Studies.  Dr. Martin's dissertation, Women's Religious Speech and Activism in German Pietism, explores the intersections between women's discourse practices and identity politics in literature, theology, and politics and documents.  Her case studies of leading Pietist women reveal a level of activity and autonomy of women in theological and social realms unknown to date.  Dr. Martin has been invited twice to present her research at Halle, the pre-eminent center of Pietism research in Germany and is currently completing a book based on her dissertation.  Dissertation supervisor:  Katherine Arens.
