Eric Anslyn receives his award from Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies Victoria Rodríguez
ERIC V. ANSLYN, University Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, began his academic career at UT in 1989 after receiving his bachelor's degree from California State University-Northridge and his doctoral degree from California Institute of Technology. He is a respected expert in the area of physical organic chemistry, and runs an active and productive research group. Dr. Anslyn has mentored fourteen doctoral students and ten master's students and has established an outstanding reputation in the classroom.
Dr. Anslyn's students and colleagues describe his teaching as carefully articulated, effective, enthusiastic, and enlightening, and note that his lectures and discussion groups stimulate critical thinking and raise thought-provoking questions. His students frequently cite his influence in the development of their problem-solving skills and his ability to clearly convey complex concepts and principles.
