Editorial Assistantships
Graduate School Editorial Assistantships are intended to provide partial support to graduate students who are doing substantial editorial work to assist a faculty member who is serving as editor of a journal. The amount of the award can vary from a "tuition award" to a part-time GRA appointment depending on need, number of applications received, and the funding available.
Procedure for Applying
The funding for these positions is now part of the allocation of funds to colleges and schools for decentralized award decisions. Faculty should check with their college or school dean on the availability of funding for Graduate Editorial Assistantships.
For colleges or schools that wish to have a Graduate Editorial Assistantship award competition, the Graduate School can assist by setting up a college-specific competition using the Graduate School Onine Awards System in UT Direct for their faculty to apply for a Graduate Editorial Assistantship - no hard copies are involved.
- College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Faculty - Use the "COLA Editorial Assistantships for 2013 - 2014" application available on the online awards system.
The COLA application is open from January 25, 2013 to February 8, 2013 with the results announced in early March. During the application process, you will be asked to answer a series of short questions about the journal and be prepared to upload a one-page document that briefly describes the nature of the journal and the work that would be done by the Graduate Editorial Assistant. When there is more than one application from a department, the department chair may be asked to rank order the applications.
We will update this page as other colleges or school offer Editorial Assistantships.
