James A. Michener Fellowships
The UT Michener Center for Writers administers an interdisciplinary MFA in Writing and provides fellowship support to graduate and postgraduate writers in the departments of English, Radio-Television-Film, and Theatre and Dance at the university. James A. Michener Fellowships are awarded to writing students on a competitive basis judged chiefly on their written work.


MFA Fellowships:

Eligibility:
Must be enrolled full-time in the interdisciplinary MFA in Writing program.

Application Deadline:
January 15

Stipend: $20,000 (9 months) plus remission of all tuition and required fees. Approximately twelve students are admitted to the MFA in Writing each fall with full fellowship support.

Departmental Fellowships:

Eligibility:
Must be entering or currently enrolled, or have recently obtained a graduate degree in the graduate writing program in English (creative writing), RTF (screenwriting) or Theatre and Dance (playwriting). The departments each devise their own internal procedures for these awards.
