UT Austin Graduate Programs Receive Top Rankings from U.S. News
The university places a premium on outstanding instruction. Its academic programs and professional schools rank largely among the top 20 programs and schools in the country. The faculty includes members of the National Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as winners of Pulitzer and Nobel prizes. More than 1,000 privately funded endowed faculty positions exist at the university. Each year about 100 faculty members receive teaching excellence awards.
The Chronicle of Higher Education's 2007 Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index rates faculty members’ scholarly output and compiles overall institutional rankings on 375 universities that offer the Ph.D. degree.

2013 U.S. News and World Report *
At the graduate level, forty-one UT programs and specialties rank in the top ten nationally. Fifty-six others rank in the top 25. These rankings are for all graduate programs and specialties – Master’s and doctoral combined – and the word “program” is used by U.S. News and World Report to refer to specific areas of study that may, in some cases, be subareas or concentrations of a graduate program at the university.
