Betty Duson - Doctorate: Counseling Psychology, 1976

My grad school years meant everything to me! My goal was to remain in academia in some fashion and to maintain a private practice as well. My time at UT prepared me perfectly to fulfill these dreams. I’m currently Staff Psychologist in the Counseling Center at the TWU Health Science Center in Houston and I also have a small independent practice. My UT Counseling Center internship and my job at Telephone Counseling added to the training that has allowed me to work in my “dream jobs” during the past 34 years — teaching, providing psychotherapy and consultation, and engaging in training and supervising therapists-to-be. Especially sweet memories are of courses with Drs. Earl Koile, June Gallesich, Frank Richardson and Ed Emmer. My son is now at UT majoring in English and representing the third generation of our family to bleed burnt orange. I am eternally grateful for my UT education!
