Ervan Zouzalik - Master's: Business Administration, 1969
Following my first tour as a Company Commander in Vietnam, the Army assigned me to the University of Texas to obtain an MBA degree in 1967. My two-year MBA education significantly enhanced my 24-year military career and greatly enhanced a 25-year second career in banking that continues today as a Director of Prosperity Bancshares and its 161 banking centers throughout Texas.
The MBA degree, along with two undergraduate degrees and a commission from Texas A&M University in 1960, resulted in a very rewarding military career. My UT MBA degree provided unique personnel and management skills as a Battalion Commander in the 1st Cavalry Division, three years in the Pentagon, graduation from the Army War College, and as a Brigade Commander in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea –along with many other Army assignments.
I retired as a Colonel in 1984, and began my banking career with Flatonia State Bank, later serving as President and CEO of Central Texas Bank and Chairman of State Bank and Texas United Bancshares in La Grange. During my banking career, I served 14 years as a Director of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT), including one year as Chairman. I also served three years as a Director of the Texas Independent Bankers Bank (TIB) in Dallas. My two careers would not have been as successful without the MBA degree from The University of Texas in 1969, and I will be forever grateful for that truly outstanding education and very rewarding experience.
