Timy Baranoff - Doctorate: Education, Cognitive Style, 1974
I was the first member of my family to attend college. I was able to earn three degrees at UT Austin – a BSc, MA, and PhD – with the support of and help from my late husband, Professor Mort Baranoff, and two wonderful UT professors, Dr.Clyde Martin (deceased) and Dr. Alberta Castaneda. By what I learned at UT, I was able to affect positively, the lives of many young children and the student teachers who worked with me. In another role in administration, a program was initiated for five classes of 4-year-old children from economically disadvantaged homes or from homes where English was not the first language. Today, there are more than 5,000 children in this program. I was honored by the Austin School District by having an elementary school named after me.
