Veronica Walker - Master's: Psychiatric Nursing, 1984
When I was in graduate school, my teachers told me that having an MSN would empower me to have wonderful employment and a lifestyle that was coveted by my peers. I found so many doors opened to me as a result of my Master’s in Nursing. I was able to accept employment in positions that I enjoyed and that taught me so much.
A dream came true when I was hired to be a clinical faculty at The University of Texas at Austin. I have taught for over 3 years at UT and loved it. The interaction with eager minds seeking to learn what is necessary to be excellent nurses has been a marvelous experience.
I think my faculty mentors were correct. Having a graduate degree definitely opens doors to a wonderful life which I am blessed to be living now!!
