You are cordially invited to participate in the Graduate School Convocation honoring Doctoral graduates on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Bass Concert Hall. The ceremony will begin at noon. Doctoral graduates and candidates will be individually recognized and hooded by the deans of their academic colleges. Graduation day is a day of celebration for students, family, and the university community. I hope you will be able to join us for this special event.

Reservation to Participate
The original application to attend closed on May 3. Additional information about the convocation can be found on the Graduate School Web site. If you have questions about attending and have not registered, contact Christopher Villalobos at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Academic regalia is required for all students participating in convocation. To purchase or rent regalia, you must place your order with the University Co-op before the deadlines listed below. For more information about ordering your regalia from the Co-op, visit their Web site.
The deadline to rent doctoral regalia is April 5, 2013.
If you or your guests require wheelchair access or have other special needs, please see the Bass Concert Hall's accessibility web site at http://www.texasperformingarts.org/visit/accessibility. Check-in will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. in the lobby of McCullough Theatre, which is located on the northeast side of Bass Concert Hall. Please plan to arrive early. Do not enter Bass Concert Hall with your family and friends. Instead, students go directly to McCullough for student check-in. Signs will direct you to the entrance of McCullough Theatre. Following your check-in, you will be directed to a seat in McCullough theatre and will be given instructions about the ceremony.

Parents and Guests
Parents and guests may enter Bass Concert Hall through the main entrance on 23rd Street, facing Royal Memorial Stadium. Tickets are not required and seating is open and not reserved. The doors will be open for guests at 11:30 a.m.
- Do I need a ticket to participate in the Graduate School Doctoral Convocation?
No. All you have to do is visit the convocation Web site by May 3 and register to attend the ceremony. (See late registration information after May 3.)
- Do my guests need tickets for the Graduate School Doctoral Convocation at Bass Concert Hall?
No. Guests do not need tickets. Open seating will be available on a first come, first served basis in Bass Concert Hall.
- What happens if I forget to register for convocation by May 3, 2013 or late register by May 10, 2013?

- If I do not complete all requirements for my degree this semester, may I participate in the ceremony anyway?
No. All degree requirements must be fulfilled to walk across the stage. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- If I completed all my degree requirements in a past semester but am not currently a student, will I be able to participate in convocation?
Yes. Just go to the registration link by May 3, 2013 and sign up to participate in the ceremony.
- Will I receive my diploma at the ceremony?
No. Six weeks after the graduation date, the Office of the Registrar will mail your diploma to the permanent address you have listed in your University of Texas at Austin directory information. If you would like to pick up your diploma from the Office of the Registrar, call (512) 475-7620 to make arrangements, or stop by their office in Room 1 of the Main Building. - Will my name be read out loud?
Yes. Each graduate/candidate will have his or her name read aloud, will be hooded, and will walk across the stage.
- How do I know the colors that should be in my academic hood and tassel?
The University Co-op has charts to determine the colors of your college/school. The University of Texas at Austin uses the “Academic Costume Code and Ceremony Guide” by the American Council on Education.
- How can I find hotels for my guests?

- Where can I get graduation announcements?

- I am an international student and I need a letter signed by the Graduate School to assist my parents in obtaining a visa to attend my graduation ceremony.
