| Description: | Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. presents "Breaking the Glass Ceiling: The Journey of an African American Entrepreneur" with best selling author and University of Texas at Austin alumna ReShonda Tate Billingsley, who is returning to the university to talk about being an African American female entrepreneur.
As we understand that glass ceilings are breaking and women have more business opportunities now than ever before, women everywhere are still facing travesties and many are turning to the entrepreneurial industry and making their dreams and personal goals come true.
In 2007, Billingsley left her job as a reporter with KRIV, Fox 26 News in Houston to write full time. After numerous rejections from publishers, she stepped out on faith, established her own publishing company, and released her debut novel, "My Brother's Keeper."
She will talk about her decision for the change, how she got started as an independent author, and the success of publishing her 14th novel. Along with a question and answer session for those seeking advice, Billingsley will also be signing copies of her latest book "Can I Get a Witness." |
