The University of Texas at Austin Web RefreshThe University of Texas at Austin's home page, Web Central (www.utexas.edu), averages about 170,000 unique visits (and more than 4.3 million hits) a day and is the largest opportunity the university has to communicate with a varied audience of faculty, staff and students, prospective students/parents, alumni and friends, corporate partners, media and the public. The Refresh team met with over 120 faculty, staff, studnets and alumni to gather needs and requirements data. After gathering, analyzing and reporting the results of that effort, work began on design, information re-architecture and preparation of the university Web site for new technologies. Finally, after feedback and selection of the design, teams implemented the new design and technologies. Throughout the project, deliverables were analyzed against measurable quality indicators, documented for support, ported into existing support standards, and developed into training resources.
