BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Thomas F. Edgar holds the George T. and Gladys H. Abell Endowed Chair in Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin and is a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Kansas and Ph.D. from Princeton University. He has concentrated his academic work on process modeling, control and optimization, with more than 200 articles and book chapters. Edgar has co-authored several editions of the textbooks, Optimization of Chemical Processes (McGraw-Hill, 2001) and Process Dynamics and Control (Wiley, 2010). Dr. Edgar received the Colburn Award in 1980, the Computing in Chemical Engineering Award in 1995, the Lewis Award in 2000 and the Van Antwerpen Award in 2010. He was also the President of AIChE in 1997.
