BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Goodenough holds basic patents on cathodes for lithium-ion secondary batteries, and developed improved oxide-ion electrolytes for solid oxide fuel cells. He developed oxygen-permeation membranes, and investigated the transition from localized to itinerant electronic behavior in high-temperature copper-oxide superconductors and the colossal magnetoresistance of manganese-oxide perovskites. He also investigated spin electronics with half-metallic ferromagnets.
