BIOGRAPHY

Frankel, director of the School of Journalism and G.B. Dealey Regents Professor in Journalism, was a longtime Washington Post reporter, editor and foreign correspondent who served as bureau chief in Jerusalem, London and Southern Africa and won the 1989 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting of the Palestinian uprising. He is the author of books on Israel and the apartheid era in South Africa. He came to The University of Texas at Austin after four years as a visiting journalism professor at Stanford University.
