University of Texas at Austin professor appointed to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship BoardJanuary 29, 2004 AUSTIN, Texas—Dr. John Sibley Butler, professor of sociology and management at The University of Texas at Austin and director of the Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship and IC2 Institute, has been appointed to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Butler is a distinguished scholar, consultant and author. His research is in the areas of organizational behavior and entrepreneurship, specifically immigrant and minority entrepreneurship. He has been a distinguished visiting professor at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo for the past seven summers and he has served as consultant for the United States military as well as many private companies. His books include “Entrepreneurship and Self-Help Among Black America: A Reconsideration of Race and Economics” and “All That We Can Be: Black Leadership and Racial Integration the Army Way.” Butler was appointed to the Fulbright committee by President George W. Bush. The board was established by Congress to supervise the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government’s flagship program in international educational exchange, and to select its participants.
