Accounting students from The University of Texas at Austin once again exceed all-state averageMay 4, 2004 AUSTIN, Texas—Accounting students from The University of Texas at Austin once again claimed by far the highest passing rate in the state for the annual Certified Public Accountants exam, beating Texas’ average passing rate by 43 percentage points, according to recently released results from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. The number of students from The University of Texas at Austin who sat for the most recently administered test in November 2003 was about the same as last year, but the percentage who passed all four sections of the exam was significantly higher: 62 percent in November 2003 as opposed to 47 percent in November 2002. The 62 percent passing rate surpassed the all-state average of 19 percent for students from all Texas institutions other than The University of Texas at Austin. “We are proud of our accounting students,” said Richard Joseph, director of the Master in Professional Accounting Degree Programs at the university. “The exceptional pass rate reflects their own hard work and perseverance as much as it reflects the dedication of the accounting faculty.” For more information contact: J.B.
