Longhorn Halloween is a fun and safe Halloween celebration for UT children of all ages. Held in the Erwin Center, the program begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29.

The festival is free and features games, carnival events, a haunted house, face painting, fortune telling, a pumpkin patch for younger children, basketball toss, fire department demonstrations (complete with a real fire truck), Emergency Medical Services demonstrations, Department of Public Safety demonstrations and more.

The event includes booths such as bean bag toss, ring toss, mask making, face painting, bingo, basketball toss, cake walks, dress up pictures, pumpkin decorating, sandbox treasures, dunking booth, balloon animals and crafts. To create and register a staff booth, fill out the form at: www.utexas.edu/events/halloween/index.html. The deadline for registering a booth is Wednesday (Oct.18).

A candy drive for the event continues through Oct. 27. Treats can include anything from candy to packages of small toys -- such as bat rings, eyeballs, skeletons, etc. Longhorn Halloween donation station posters are posted at collection boxes throughout the campus. Additional posters are available in the Office of University Relations in Main 309. The guard booths at the Pickle Research Campus will serve as drop off locations for that campus.
