Our Mission

To ensure the safety, welfare, and security of the staff, faculty, students, visitors and property of The University of Texas at Austin through high quality services and leadership.

Emergency Preparedness

Our mission is to create a comprehensive emergency management program for the university in order to save lives, protect property, promote continuity of operations, and reduce the overall effects of large-scale disasters.

Environmental Health and Safety

The mission of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is to promote healthy and safe operations on campus, to protect students, faculty, staff and visitors, and to ensure protection of the environment. It is our vision to become a recognized, national leader and innovator in campus environmental health and safety.

Fire Prevention Services

Fire Prevention Services ensures a safe environment for faculty, staff, and students by providing an up-to-date fire prevention program. Our fire safety professionals monitor all university buildings for compliance with local and state requirements, and work closely with the community to perform the inspections and drills necessary to lower the risk and potential repercussions of fire on campus.

Parking and Transportation Services

Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is a self-funded auxiliary department of The University of Texas at Austin. We are responsible for the management of nearly 16,000 parking spaces on campus, including nine parking garages and more than 50 surface parking lots, and we strive to satisfy the multiple daily requirements of 70,000 staff, faculty, students, and visitors.

U T Police Department

Founded in 1968, UTPD continues to uphold its mission to serve and protect. The department has the same authority and responsibilities as most municipal police organizations and has challenges unique to a large, nationally recognized university community.
