
Details: The Art Building and Museum Renovation is renovating space formerly occupied by the Blanton Museum to create much needed additional space for the Art and Art History program, including new graduate studio space. A special feature of the project is the creation of a Visual Arts Center in the former Blanton Museum gallery space. The Visual Arts Center will provide professional quality gallery space to serve as a home for student exhibitions, faculty exhibitions, and lectures in a flexible, interdisciplinary, and educational environment. The scope of the renovation encompasses about 32,000 gross square feet and will be completed in December 2009, with occupancy in the spring 2010 semester.

Details: The Gas Turbine #10 project will be located in the Power Plant Annex building (PPA) on 24th Street just west of San Jacinto Street. The new unit will replace an existing gas turbine and boiler.
Benefits to Campus: Electrical generating capacity will be increased at this site from 14 MW to 32 MW, bringing the campus total capacity to about 140 MW.

Details: The Thermal Energy Storage project will be located in the F26 parking lot, just north of the San Jacinto Garage. A 100-foot diameter by 75-foot-high tank containing more than four million gallons of chilled water will be installed, supporting about a 41,000-ton-hour capacity.
Benefits to Campus: The tank will add capacity to the campus cooling system, allowing for increased overall efficiency.
