About the SLICE Awards & Nomination Criteria...

What are SLICE Awards?

University Operations has celebrated our employees’ accomplishments with SLICE Awards since 2004. The awards are a great honor and recognize outstanding employees for the ways they embody the values of University Operations and are a “slice” of what makes us a good team.

When are nominations due?

All nominations are due online or via mail by October 30, 2009.

What do winners receive?

SLICE Award winners get a $1,000 check, two paid days off, and a framed campus photo. Winners will also be surprised and celebrated by the University Operations vice president at their workplace in the presence of their supervisors and peers.

Who’s eligible to complete SLICE nominations?

Any University Operations staff member—whether you’re an associate vice president or an entry-level employee—can nominate someone for a SLICE Award.

How are winners chosen?

Winners will be chosen by a selection committee of their peers (staff members below the associate/assistant director level). The vice president’s office selects seven people from across University Operations to serve on this committee each year, and winners are announced in December.

Who can you nominate?

You can nominate any University Operations staff member below the associate/assistant director level who has held at least a half-time appointment for one or more years. Your nominee should embody one or more of University Operations’ values, and you should be able to give specific examples of how that value is reflected in their daily work. We encourage you to nominate people from outside your department, so remember your nominee can be from any of the following areas of our portfolio:
