Emergency Information
-
When the University closes
for bad weather reasons, all gates will be open
in all locations to allow for easy exit. At the San
Jacinto Garage, the entrance/exit onto San Jacinto
St (Level 1) will be closed within 45 minutes-1 hour of
the official closure or when ice begins to develop
on the ramp. The ramp will be barricaded off
if the potential for icy conditions exist. All
patrons can exit the San Jacinto garage from level
3 – Trinity Street exit.
-
All customers who will be
leaving their vehicles in the garage should move
those vehicles off of the roof of the garage
to at least a level below the roof. Level
restrictions will be temporary lifted and will
not go back into effect until the University
re-opens.
-
Every attempt will be made
to operate UT Shuttle service 5 hours after the
official University closing. Additionally
when there is a need to "empty" the
campus, shuttle resources may be reallocated
from the Forty Acres (FA) and West Campus (WC)
routes to serve the radial/commuter routes (Riverside,
Far West, Lake Austin, etc).
-
If the University is closed on a Thursday, Friday,
or Saturday there is a strong possibility that
Capital Metro E-Bus service will not operate that
evening.
-
When the University is opening under a delayed
start, shuttle service will resume 1 hour before
the delayed start time.
Please refer to the Capital
Metro Web site for
exact service levels and schedules
Events with contractual agreements
will remain on a normal schedule
unless stated otherwise.
Most of our vehicles and utility
carts have limited coverage under the UT System Auto
Liability Plan. This policy does not cover damages
as a result of a storm, so it is important to seek
covered protection when possible.
If covered parking is not already provided, all vehicles, including utility carts,
should be moved to the Manor (MAG) and Speedway (SWG) garages and removed
as quickly as possible after the University reopens. Vehicles that will be used
during the emergency should top off their tanks with fuel in the event there
is a loss of power at our fueling facility.
