Random Selection "R"
Permit Process for UT Housing Students
Detailed Information
Back
to Student Parking
Application will not be due prior
to Housing and Food sending the room assignments.
Shortly after the Housing assignment is mailed PTS
will send an email regarding entry into the random
selection for "R" 2005/06 permit parking.
This will be a time-sensitive application that should
arrive in early July after your housing room assignment
notification.
You
will receive an email
with information
regarding
entry into the random
selection parking
permit system. The
system is Web based
and will require
you
to have a UT EID*.
(UT EID’s will
be issued during
summer
orientation and additional
information about
your EID can be found
at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/nlogon/eid_suite/general/index.WBX).
(*an
ssn is not required
to enter the Random
Selection. do not
provide your SSN.)
If you do not receive an email
notice regarding the random draw please return to
this site as we will post the random draw link here
and once this link is posted you will be able to
access the application as long as you meet the qualifications.
Only those with Housing and Food
contracts will actually be offered permits. The
selection is random and weighted toward returning
students. While this draw is weighted toward returning
students, there should be spaces rewarded to incoming
students. We highly recommend that you make multiple
choices during the random selection process to increase
the chance of you getting a parking assignment in
the area close to your dorm.
Each academic school year, we
offer approximately 50 spaces in SJG, 50 spaces
in SAG, 400 spaces in BRG, 175 spaces in TSG, 300
spaces in MAG, 105 spaces in SWG and 325 spaces
in TRG. SJG is close to Simpkins, SAG is close
to
all north side University housing, BRG is close
to Jester and San Jacinto hall in addition to other
south side housing. TSG is the closest to Kinsolving.
MAG is close to San Jacinto Hall but also serves
Jester and other south campus housing. SWG is close
to Kinsolving and other north side housing and
TRG
is close to San Jacinto Hall and Jester. The selection
is entirely random.
When you go through the random
selection process no money is due and you are bound
in no way by your choices. We highly encourage
you
to enter the selection process if there is any
chance
you may require parking in the vicinity of official
UT housing. To complete the application you will
need your UT EID* and information relating to any
vehicles that you may drive on the UT campus. (*an
ssn is not required to enter the Random Selection.
do not provide your SSN.)
Within a week of the close of the
draw application (mid-to late July) time sensitive
offers will be emailed to those who have successfully
entered the draw. If you receive an offer follow
the instructions in regards to making payment. Only
after making payment is the offered space secured.
To secure your space payment must be received to
PTS prior to the deadline stated in your email.
Payment may be mailed or paid by credit card on-line
through our secure payment server.
We will make at least two and
possibly
three groups of offers so if you do not receive
an offer during the first round you should not
be
concerned. While we can make no guarantees, over
the past four years we have been able to make some
type of parking option offer to everyone who enters
the random selection process. Of course those offers
may not be your first choice but we have made offers
to all applicants in the general area of their
University
housing. This entire process from start to finish
will happen within a 3-6 week time span.
Please note that Housing
and Food is not responsible for parking assignments.
All R parking inquiries should be made to the Parking
Garages.
