Federal Withholding Taxes

The university uses the IRS Monthly Percentage Method Tables for Income Tax Withholding. For a detailed explanation of how the federal withholding taxes are calculated, please see the tax rate link below for the current year.

Federal Withholding Tax is an amount deducted from an employee’s income that the employer sends directly to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as payment toward that individual’s income tax liability for the year. The calculation of the amount is based on the residency status and W-4 Form on file.
