Summary & Research Interests

Dr. Henry Bussey obtained his B.S. in pharmacy from the University of Georgia and his Pharm.D. (with concurrent residency in Internal Medicine) from The University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Hypertension Research Section of the American Heart Association.

He has more than 100 publications, is on the editorial board for Pharmacotherapy, and serves as a reviewer for several pharmacy and medical journals.

His research is clinically focused and was instrumental in the adoption of the INR for warfarin monitoring in North America. He is the co-founder, president, and senior editor of ClotCare.com (a non-profit information resource).  Dr. Bussey also serves as a consultant to Genesis Advanced Technologies, Inc. in the development and revision of The ClotFree System for online management of oral anticoagulation.  For his work in anticoagulation management, Dr. Bussey received the Pinnacle Award from the APhA Foundation in 2006, the GSK Distinguished Scholar in Thrombosis Award and a Humanitarian Award from the Chest Foundation in 2008.

Dr. Bussey also served from 1995 to 2005 on the American College of Chest Physicians Consensus Conference on Antithrombotic Therapy.
