Practice and Research InterestsLeroy C. Knodel is the Director of the Drug Information Service at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), clinical clerkship regional coordinator for San Antonio, and coordinator of the M.S./Ph.D. in Pharmacy (Pharmacotherapy) residency program. Dr. Knodel's primary teaching emphasis in the College of Pharmacy is in the areas of literature evaluation, study design, biostatistics, and GI pharmacotherapeutics. He also serves as a lecturer in the UTHSCSA Medical and Dental Schools. In addition to his institutional responsibilities as a member of the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and as a consultant to the University Health System (Bexar county, Texas) Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Drug Usage Evaluation Committee, Dr. Knodel is active in various state and local health care organizations. Since 1992 Dr. Knodel has served as a member and vice-chairman of the Texas Department of Health Drug Utilization Review Committee. For over 10 years he has served on the Board of Directors of Community Clinic, a United Way-funded agency providing medical and counseling services to low-income individuals in San Antonio. Additionally, he serves as the clinic's pharmacist-in-charge (volunteer). Dr. Knodel's primary scholarly activities relate to application of computer technologies in improving drug information storage, retrieval, and dissemination. |
