Overview

 

The Division of Pharmacotherapy is one of six divisions within the College. Robert L. Talbert, Pharm.D., FCCP, serves as Division Head. The division consists of 9 full-time faculty, approximately 30 part-time faculty and approximately 12 research and office personnel. Several Austin faculty in the Division of Pharmacy Practice are also cross-appointed in the division. In addition, there are approximately ten Pharm.D. graduates engaged in either a 1-2 year specialty practice residency or a 2-3 year clinical science fellowship and four to eight graduate students pursuing a M.S. in pharmacy concurrently with advanced practice residency training.

Faculty who have their primary appointments in the Division of Pharmacotherapy are located in San Antonio and have offices on the campus of The University of Texas Health Science Center. The Drug Information Service, contained within the Briscoe Biomedical Library on the main campus, houses two full-time and one part-time faculty along with one full-time classified personnel. The remainder of faculty and staff have offices in the McDermott Clinical Science Building.

The Division of Pharmacotherapy occupies approximately 19,000 square feet of space in the McDermott Clinical Science Building which includes a state-of-the-art telecommunications classroom (TCC) with a fixed seating capacity of 62 and a medium sized classroom (650 square feet) with a seating capacity of 32. There are approximately 6,300 square feet of space allocated for teaching and research laboratories that house state-of-the-art research equipment.
