Texas licensure by September 1.

The College of Pharmacy, The University of Texas at Austin, in conjunction with Scott & White Memorial Hospital, Clinics and Health Plan offers an ambulatory care-based PGY1 pharmacy practice residency experience designed to provide training for individuals interested in ambulatory care and community pharmacy practice. Experiential components include the provision of direct patient care in the community pharmacy and ambulatory clinic settings. Pharmacists manage drug therapy in a variety of patient populations including those taking anticoagulants and with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, and lipid disorders. General medication therapy management services are also provided.

The Department of Pharmacy at Scott & White provides progressive, clinically oriented pharmacy services for the hospital, clinic and health plan. Included among the major departmental functions are 24-hour in-patient pharmacy services, the Drug Information Center, home infusion services, anticoagulation, diabetes and dyslipidemia management clinics and a wide range of clinical pharmacy services provided by Scott & White patient care pharmacists and clinical specialists. Nine residency/fellowship-trained clinical pharmacy specialists currently practice at Scott & White; specialty areas include adult medicine, pediatrics, pharmacokinetics/infectious disease, hematology/oncology, drug information, and ambulatory care.

In addition to provision of a wide array of clinically oriented patient care services, the Department of Pharmacy at Scott & White has a significant teaching/research presence within the institution. A major element of the departmental teaching mission involves offering both pharmacy practice and post-doctoral specialty residency training opportunities.

Scott & White, located in central Texas, is a 110-year-old institution that includes a 500-bed tertiary care hospital, the Scott & White Clinic in Temple, 20 regional clinics throughout central Texas, and a 200,000-member health maintenance organization. Scott & White also serves as a major teaching facility for the College of Pharmacy, The University of Texas at Austin, and the College of Medicine, Texas A&M University Health Science Center.
