Oakdell Pharmacy, Inc. was established in 1969 by John R. Carson and has been a leader in the industry ever since. Oakdell Pharmacy and The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy have partnered to provide an innovative training program that aims to advance community pharmacy through practice, community-based research, and education.

Understanding that there are some patients who need special attention and hard to find services, the Carson family created a pharmacy that people can turn to when a regular pharmacy just won't do. Oakdell Pharmacy offers custom compounding, sterile compounding, infusion services, vaccinations, bio-identical hormone replacement and pain management.

Jeff Carson (Chief-of-Staff, Oakdell Pharmacy) has been a leader in several patient care areas providing immunizations, bio-identical hormone replacement consultations, pain management consultations, nursing home consultations and disease state management. Oakdell also maintains a wellness center offering a variety of tests and services to help the patient gather information that will aid them in working with their health care practitioner.

In addition to patient care services, Oakdell and The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy have implemented an innovative research model designed to facilitate practice-based research in the community setting. Applicants interested in this residency program will be offered the opportunity to concurrently pursue both a residency at Oakdell Pharmacy and a Master of Science graduate program with the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Dr. Christopher Frei (Assistant Professor, The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy) will serve as the trainee's chief research mentor for residency/graduate student projects.

In addition to practice and research activities, this innovative training program offers didactic (lecture), experiential (rotations), and laboratory teaching opportunities at Oakdell Pharmacy, The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and The University of Incarnate Word (San Antonio, TX).

The University of Texas at Austin and its affiliated institutions are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.  Qualified women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
