REQUIREMENTS:
Pharm.D. degree from ACPE-accredited institution.
Texas licensure by September 1.
A strong interest in hospital pharmacy practice.

STIPEND:
A stipend of approximately $38,000 will be provided along with medical coverage and optional vision and dental coverage.  Travel assistance to two professionally-relevant conferences or meetings will be provided.

The pharmacy practice residency at Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen offers a challenging and comprehensive educational and practical experience intended to provide resident training in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice. Rotations and experiences include pharmacy administration/management, inpatient pharmacy, pharmacokinetics, internal medicine, infectious diseases, and adult/pediatric critical care. Residents will participate in formulary evaluations, drug utilization evaluations, and a major project.

Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen, a 586-bed hospital located in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, is the flagship of the Valley Baptist Health System, with extensive high-tech facilities surrounded by medical clinics, physician offices and the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC) (under The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio).

Valley Baptist Medical Center serves as the primary teaching facility for third and fourth year medical students at the RAHC, medical residents participating in the RAHC Internal Medicine Residency Program, and medical residents participating in the Valley Baptist family practice residency program.  In addition, Valley Baptist Medical Center serves as a major training site for pharmacy students enrolled in The University of Texas – Pan American Cooperative Pharmacy Program in Edinburg, Texas, and has maintained an ASHP-Accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency program since 2003.
