BioRad BioPlex 200
The PMAF Luminex Core is a fluorescent microbead array service using Luminex xMAP® technology on a BioPlex 200 instrument from BioRad. This fluidic array system generates results for multiple analytes from a single sample, 50ul or less.
The core is currently working with kits from Millipore. Popular analytes include mouse/rat cytokines, insulin, leptin, resistin, and adiponectin. Kits from other vendors such as BioRad and Life Technologies have been developed for the Luminex platform. Kits may be purchased through the core for a discount. Custom applications may be possible in the future. Find out more about fluidic bead arrays from Luminex Corp.
Fees and Instructions:
Kits are designed for about 38 samples per plate including standards and controls run in duplicate. List prices for kits run about $450.00 for a single analyte, and an additional $150.00 per extra analyte. For example: Millipore 1 plex adiponectin $450.00, Millipore 3 plex insulin, resistin, leptin $775.00.
Contact Cissy Geigerman at geigerman@mail.utexas.edu to reserve a run time.
General procedure: 1) contact core lab, generate paperwork, 2) order kits through core, 3) deliver samples, or arrive to process run, 4)results delivered by email.
