Tao Zhang received his medical degree from Beijing Medical University in China in 1999.He is interested in the study of the effect of alcohol on learning and memory, and is currently a third-year graduate student in Dr. Richard Morrisettís laboratory.

The projects for my Ph.D dissertation concern the mechanisms underlying ethanol reinforcement and synaptic changes in ethanol-related disorders. One project is to study the changes in the mesolimbic dopamine system that results in the compulsive drinking behavior. The major techniques I am using in the lab include field potential recording from brain slices, patch-clamp recording from brain slices or primary neuron culture.
