Research Interests
My research interests involve understanding cultural and socioeconomic elements that impact both quality of care and health outcomes of patients with chronic illnesses, particularly ethnic minority patients who experience a disproportionate burden of poor health. Extant research indicates that many patients simultaneously use both the formal and informal health care systems. As a result, my research program focuses on patients' treatment decisions in chronic illness management, particularly as they relate to adherence with prescribed medication regimens and use of complementary and alternative medicine.
