The Program's Mission

Students The mission of the Division of Pharmacy Practice is to provide quality teaching programs that prepare students for entry into all areas of professional practice. The division is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service and demonstrating excellence in professional practice and outreach. The faculty and professional staff are individuals with unique interests, talents, and backgrounds joined by our dedication to the education of future practitioners according to the core principles of pharmaceutical care; by conducting scholarly activities to advance pharmacotherapy and the profession; and to provide the highest level of care to citizens of the state of Texas.

Division faculty members provide educational opportunities for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students and practitioners to enable them to practice pharmaceutical care, adapt to changing professional roles, utilize new technologies, assume leadership roles in a dynamic healthcare environment and contribute new knowledge to the profession.

The division also serves the college and the university through leadership and participation in activities of the entire academic community. Division faculty members serve in leadership capacities in professional, healthcare, and governmental organizations. Division faculty also advocate for professional roles for pharmacists on national and international levels.
