RESEARCH AND TEACHING INTERESTS
Health care costs and outcomes are receiving attention in legislative and policy debates at the national, state,
corporate, and organizational levels. These debates center on cost-containment and patient outcome issues. His
current research activities focus on factors affecting the utilization and costs of prescription medications and
other health care services (including managed health care system activities such as generic utilization
incentives, benefit design, formulary restrictions, and drug utilization review). In addition, he is involved in
research to evaluate the effects of educational interventions.
His primary teaching interests include health care systems in the professional program and managed health care
systems, research methods, and data analysis in the graduate program.
