The Cooperative Pharmacy Program Overview The Cooperative Pharmacy Programs are structured so that students are able to complete the two years of pre-pharmacy requirements at either UT El Paso or UT-Pan American and then come to Austin to complete their first two years of pharmacy coursework. Students return to their home region to complete their third and fourth years of the pharmacy curriculum. The Pharmacy Scholars Program is an early admission program designed to encourage high school students to consider pharmacy as a career. The program offers conditional admission to the College of Pharmacy to a select number of highly-qualified high school seniors. Under the contractual agreement, students are expected to complete pre-pharmacy courses and maintain a grade point average equal to or greater than 3.2 on a 4.0-point scale. A minimum of a combined verbal and math SAT score of 1000 or a minimum composite ACT score of 21 is desired. Students may also apply to the Pharmacy Scholars Program during their first or send year of pre-pharmacy studies. Pharmacy Scholars become a part of the pharmacy community through participation in pharmacy-related seminars, special projects, summer research programs and community service projects under faculty direction and supervision. Students at UT El Paso and UT-Pan American who do not want to participate in the Pharmacy Scholars Program may pursue the normal admission process and apply directly to the College of Pharmacy after completing all pre-pharmacy requirements. |
