Fall 2004 |
Guest speakers, community service projects, and social activities drew focus
to the work and contributions of pharmacists as UT students observed Pharmacy
Week 2004.
Events kicked off Monday, Oct. 25 with a presentation, “Advances in Community Pharmacy Practice,” presented by Nathan Pope. On Tuesday, Diane Ginsburg, clinical associate professor of pharmacy practice, moderated a discussion of a proposed code of conduct, and, on Friday, students heard a presentation about the different areas of pharmacy practice led by members of the Texas Pharmacy Association.
Students conducted screenings and information booths concerning diabetes, blood pressure, and osteoporosis at local Walgreens and on the University’s West Mall.
Students, faculty and staff were served ice cream on Thursday by College deans and students danced the night away at the “Let’s Get Phunky” social on Friday evening.
The week was coordinated by Pharmacy Council and Kim Penn was student chair of the event
